Veggies, Garlic, Sunflowers, Bouquets

Durango Farmers Market

Find us at the Durango Farmer's Market in 2026 from May 9th through October.   Every second Saturday of the month from May to October the market will be on Main Street in downtown Durango.  Other Saturdays the market is in the TBK Bank parking at 259 W. 9th Street from 8 a.m. to noon (October starts at 9 am).

We Love to Grow What We Eat!

Early in the season we have lettuces, yummy and good for you greens, and more.  The summer crops...a variety of tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant, squash, onions, and greens make for some excellent fresh eatin' as well as good cookin'.  Mother and Son, Sheila and Jess, love to cook and to eat, so tasty, healthy choices of veggies are always on the menu.   Green garlic, then garlic scapes and finally several varieties of hardneck and softneck garlic in late July and August add that special kick to many dishes.

Sunnies
Old Time Flower Bouquets

Mid-summer Sunflowers are cheerful, sun-kissed, long lasting bunches that will brighten your home.  We also grow vibrantly colored zinnias as the basis for some homey boquets perfect for the table or to bring joy to someone's day.

Mocking Crow Farm is south of Durango and is situated along the Animas River (which can bring down early frosts from the mountains...one time frost happened on the summer solstice...yikes!).  Our irrigation water comes from the Animas.

High desert foothills surround our small farm.  We've been working hard to improve the rugged land with cover crops and minimal tillage.  Nonetheless, the crop we grow best is river rock given that we are in an old river valley.  Please let us know if you'd like to come "gather" rocks...of all sizes.  We keep areas of native shrubs and grasses and the river is a welcome riparian habitiat with birds, small mammals, deer, occasionally elk and bear -- although we've only seen one once.

We have a high tunnel and 4 smaller hoop houses and utilize floating row cover in the fields.  Season extension is a must to deal with the cold night time temps, spring winds, and getting hotter summers.  We installted a large solar array that supplies almost all our energy for the houses and the farm.

Sheila is a beekeeper (sort of....it's more of challenge than you would think.) We have some chickens, 3 dogs and 3 cats.

Mocking Crow...where did that name come from?  Well the birds fly over and caw loudly at us as we are out in the field...mocking us while they play in the sky.

You can find us on Facebook and Instagram, but we seem to be too busy to post very often.
